Written In Torment was formed in the winter of 2003 in order for sole member Leviathan to express his own musical vision of extreme metal and as a homage to his biggest influences which span from classical music to black/death metal of the late 80's and early 90's.
Rather than rehashing well worn ideas from the past, emphasis was instead placed upon musical technicality, melody and production values with intention to be modern and original without straying too far from the confines of the genre. Lyrically, the aim was to create something laced with metaphor and symbolism related to the darkest chapters of human history and personal suffering with less influence from politics or religion and as a musical cathartic release from the pain of being alive.
Second full length album 'Si Vis Pacem, Para Bellum' (If you want peace, prepare for war), released May 2017
